We are excited to present this, our flagship webinar for the 2021 ‘Careers Thursday’ series: Celebrating Diversity Success in STEM Careers. 

Dr Cathy Foley, AO, Australia’s Chief Scientist

Distinguished physicist, and CSIRO's Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley, was appointed as the Chief Scientist early this year. Already a highly regarded and accomplished scientist, Dr Foley is a champion of diversity and inclusion in STEM. She has successfully worked to build strategies to effect change and made significant contributions to Australian science.


Prof Kelvin Kong

Professor Kong is a proud Worimi man, an Aboriginal community north of Newcastle. He is Australia’s first Aboriginal Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), and is passionate in addressing inequality, and to improving the ear health of Indigenous children. He feels privileged to be able to serve urban, regional and remote parts of Australia to develop policies, advocate for equality, innovate sustainable solutions and provide ENT health services that would not otherwise be available.

 Prof Frances Separovic, AO

Professsor Separovic is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Chemistry, Deputy Director of the Bio21 Institute and former Head of School at the University of Melbourne. With more than 230 publications, her contributions to biophysics and NMR have been recognised with a slew of awards and Fellowships. Dr Separovic was named an IUPAC Distinguished Woman of Chemistry/Chemical Engineering in 2019, as well as winning RACI’s Margaret Sheil Leadership award and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in the same year.

  • Time: This event will be held at 6.30pm AEST.
