Covering core job search skills, practical tips on how to be successful in the job application process, individual job hunting strategies and a review and feedback on your resume.

Registrations close on Friday 26 August. Prerequisite work will be distributed shortly after
registration to be done in advance of the workshop on Saturday 27 August.
RACI’s new Intensive Training Short Course and Workshop features a
short course of self-directed learning, followed by a half-day workshop
of intensive interactive training and facilitated networking
introductions (for RACI members). The course is pitched to graduating
students and early career scientists who are either actively looking for
work, or intend to do so in the near future.
In the half day Intensive Workshop we will go through core job search
skills, practical tips on how to be successful in the job application
process and review resumes.
We will also workshop the strategies that can be adopted by individual
participants for near term job hunting. Participants will be encouraged
to discuss and share in a group environment, and to learn from each
other’s experience and strategies.
How does it work?
This event starts with a self-guided Training Short Course (videos and
reading material), with a training task to be completed (to be submitted
prior to the workshop on Saturday 27 August.
The videos and paperwork will be sent to you upon registration. Registrations close on 26 August.
This learning is then reinforced in an Intensive Workshop on Saturday 27 August. The key skills of job application and interview will be
practiced,
and an individual job search strategy developed for each participant.
The workshop will work on the assumption that the participants have
already viewed this material, and will concentrate specifically on
interactive workshopping:
• Practice job applications
• Individual search strategies
• Practice interviewing
Participants will be encouraged to discuss and share in a group
environment, and to learn from each other’s experience and strategies.
Participants will be provided with personalised feedback to assist in
their job search.
RACI Members, and non-member participants who take up RACI membership
within 1 month of the course, will be offered up to 5 introductions to
relevant RACI members related to their job search strategy. This will
not be for direct employment, but rather for developing key networks to
better prepare for future success.
Cost
Cost is $100 for RACI members and $200 for non-RACI members.
