COVID-19: Developing Vaccines at Pandemic Speed
Prof Trent Munro, Senior Group Leader, The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology,
Prof Munro is a Senior Group Leader at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), The University of Queensland and Director of the NCRIS funded National Biologics Facility. His research is focussed on the development, engineering and production of Biologics (complex, protein based therapeutics) using mammalian cell culture systems. Prof Munro is also Program Director of the CEPI funded Rapid Response Vaccine pipeline and in this role has been part of the UQ team developing a clinical stage vaccine candidate for COVID-19.

Steps for vectored vaccines as solutions to rapid development of vaccines
Dr Paul Howley, Managing Director, Vaxmed Pty Ltd
Vaxmed Pty Ltd is developing a new vaccine platform technology (snyVAX) with new, standardised procedures for vaccine design, construction and manufacturing. snyVAX vaccines have the potency of attenuated vaccines, the safety of inactivated vaccines, and the versatility of subunit vaccines.
Dr Howley is the inventor of Vaxmed’s synVAX platform vaccine delivery technology and the vaccines in development. He has decades of experience managing vaccine development programs expertise in the areas of antigen design and discovery, proof of concept studies in animal models, GLP preclinical and toxicology studies, process development and cGMP manufacturing, regulatory affairs and first-in-man studies concerning live viral vectored vaccines.

The format of the webinar is that each presenter will give a 10-15 minute overview, followed by 5 minutes or so questions after each presentation. There will be a further Q&A session to the conclusion of the webinar.
