Your Pharma Career

This event is part of a series of bi-monthly careers events organised by the RACI Careers Development Program, as well as being NSW ECCG’s 10th event and NSW Pharmaceutical Science Group’s 8th event for 2020.
Aims and Purpose of Event
For students, undergraduate and postgraduate, and early-career professionals in chemistry (or similar, such as biotechnology) to:
- Recognise the scope of the roles in the pharmaceutical industry that are relevant to chemists, such as quality control, regulatory and sales
- Appreciate the range of careers possible with a chemistry degree, whether it is a role involving routine analysis or out in the field
- Understand what sort of challenges there can be in working in the pharmaceutical industry, such as dealing with regulatory bodies (TGA, APVMA, USFDA etc) and technical skills
For professionals to:
- Discuss their motivation for a career in pharmaceuticals
- Talk about their career path, from the university studies, to the numerous industries and roles experienced to date, to their current role
- Discuss their part of the industry and their work and what made them successful in their industry so far
- Provide advice about starting a career in chemistry in general
The purpose does not include:
- Providing employment opportunities ‘on-the-spot’, including entry-level roles, internships, or visa sponsorship opportunities
- Merely ‘adding’ each other on LinkedIn.
