Come and solve the problems of the world and join other like-minded retired chemists. You don’t even have to live in Victoria to attend.
This month we welcome Mrs Jenny Sharwood OAM, MACE, FAIE, FRACI-CCHEM to speak.
Jenny has spent a lifetime as a chemistry educator, consultant and author. As well as having taught chemistry for almost thirty years, she has undertaken many writing, reviewing and consultative commissions with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, written over 20 books and many other print and online resource materials for students and for teachers for educational publishers, ATSE and the Curriculum Corporation, and presented many teacher workshops at conferences in Victoria and interstate. She has been very active in the RACI over many years, through its Victorian Chemical Education Committee, for which she is currently Chair, its Australian National Chemistry Quiz, for which she is a lead author, and the Victorian Titration Competition, She has contributed many articles and other resource materials to Chemistry in Australia and the RACI website.
Jenny was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to secondary education in June, 2017. In 2019 the Chemistry Education Association named Jenny as the Chemistry Educator of the Year in recognition of her dedication and service to chemistry education for over 50 years.
