Welcome to the Tasmanian Branch of the RACI. Our committee collaborates on a monthly basis to establish regular activities and events for our local members and the wider community.

Tasmanian Committee Opportunities

If you are looking for a way to express your love for chemistry and have an eye for event organisation, the RACI Tasmanian Branch Committee is for you!

You don't need any prior committee experience to join, all you need is to be a current full RACI Member. We are now holding all our branch meetings via Zoom so no matter where you are around Tasmania, you can be a committee member. So if you have been thinking of becoming a part of the committee, but have not resided in Hobart, now is your chance!

Position Descriptions (position is for a term of 1 year):
President - Duties include: run quarterly meetings, write quarterly newsletter, write & manage annual branch budget, participate in quarterly national assembly calls and attend national AGMs.

Regular events

Here at the RACI Tasmanian Branch, we have a large focus on science outreach activities. In addition to national RACI activities, our branch participates in Hobart's Festival of Bright Ideas and Science in the Park as well as various other events such as the IUPAC's Global Womens Breakfast and our Mole Day Morning Teas. In the past, we have held widely popular larger chemistry shows such as our 2017 Chemistry of Fireworks show, our 2018 Chemistry of Energy show and our 2019 Periodic Table of Fireworks Show which reached hundreds of Tasmanians across the state. Thank you to Inspiring Australia and the University of Tasmania for their wonderful support of our events.

As you can see, our Branch is very passionate about outreach through hosting and participating in a wide variety of social and networking activities. Our calendar of events include:
