Nominate an inspiring teacher for the 2025 Prizes

Nominations are open until 17 December 2024

The Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science celebrate demonstrated achievements in scientific research, research-based innovation and excellence in science teaching.

There are 2 science teaching prize categories for science, technology, engineering or mathematics teachers:

• Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Primary Schools
• Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools.

Nominating a science, technology, engineering or mathematics teacher is a meaningful way to show how much you value their efforts, achievements and impact.

Prize recipients receive national recognition for their work, as well as $250,000 prize money – an increase from the previous amount of $50,000. They become important role models inspiring students’ interest in STEM education and careers.

Nominations can be made by school principals or peers.

To nominate, you need to provide:

• Your name and contact details.
• The name and contact details of the person you are nominating.
• A short description of your nominee’s achievements.
• The names and contact details of 2 supporters.
• Your nominee’s up to date CV.

Nominations of candidates from diverse backgrounds – including gender, personal and cultural backgrounds, disciplines, career stages and geographical regions – are strongly encouraged.

Your nomination is the first step – no one can be recognised unless you nominate them.
