The way society portrays chemistry careers often reinforces narrow stereotypes that can discourage young people from seeing themselves in these careers. But the reality? Chemistry careers (and STEM careers in general!) are diverse, creative, and full of unexpected opportunities. Our “Not All Chemists Wear Lab Coats” poster series challenges these outdated ideas by portraying chemists in roles you might not expect—from wine making and environmental research to science communication and policy making. By broadening the image of what a chemist looks like, we’re helping to break down barriers and open up possibilities for the next generation of curious minds.
