A nomination is more than a form. It is a statement that someone’s contribution deserves to be seen, valued and remembered. It is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to advocate for a colleague, mentor, student, collaborator or leader whose work has had an impact.

Why nominate now?
If you have been thinking about nominating someone, this is your sign to act. Many people who are doing remarkable work do not put themselves forward. Others may not realise that their contribution is exactly what the awards are designed to recognise.
You do not need a perfect career path, a long list of headlines or a traditional story to be worthy of recognition. The RACI National Awards celebrate excellence in many forms: research, teaching, leadership, service, innovation and more.
If someone has improved your work, inspired your students, strengthened your team or changed your view of what chemistry can do, they may be the person you should nominate.
What makes a strong nomination?
Strong nominations usually do one thing well: they tell the story of impact.
That might mean showing how someone’s research has advanced knowledge, how their teaching has changed outcomes for students, how their leadership has supported others, or how their service has strengthened the chemistry community. The best nominations help the selection panel understand not only what someone has done, but why it matters.
If you are unsure whether someone is “award-worthy”, ask a simple question: would the field be better if more people knew about this contribution? If the answer is yes, they are definitely worth nominating.
