I have recently retired and have many chemistry text books and want suggestions as to what I can do with them (donate some, sell some?) - too good to pulp or put in landfill.

Anyone interested or have suggestions including donating to developing nations perhaps?

Perhaps there are students or chemists in Perth that are interested or want to add to a library collection?

    Titles include:

Intro to Instrumental Analysis, Robert D Braun

Shreve's Chemical Process Industries 5th Ed, George T Austin

Vogel's Qualitative Inorganic Analysis, Revised by G Svehla, 6th Ed

Advanced Inorganic Chemistry - A Comprehensive Text, 3rd Ed, F Albert Cotton and Geoffrey Wilkinson

Inorganic Spectroscopic Methods, Alan K Brisdon

Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry, 7th Ed, Skoog, West and Holler

Introduction to Organic Laboratory Techniques - a small scale approach, Pavia, Kriz, Lampoon and Engel and Instructor's Manual, 3rd Ed

Chemistry, 4th Ed, Raymond Chang (International Edition) and the Student Solutions Manual

Chemistry Experiments for Instrumental Methods, Sawyer, Heineman and Beebe

Qualitative Chemical Analysis, 5th Ed, Daniel C Harris and the Solutions Manual

Experimental Organic Chemistry, Daniel R Palleros

Practical Organic Chemistry, F G Mann and B C Saunders

Fundamentals of modern UV-Visible Spectrophotometry - a Primer, Hewlett Packard

Organic Chemistry, 5th Ed, Morrison and Boyd

Chemical Engineering Handbook, 5th Ed, Robert H Perry and Cecil H Chilton - International Student Edition

Modern Chemistry, Holt, Rinehart and Winston, Inc - the Holt Science Program

Chemical Properties and Reactions, Cole Watts and Bucat

The Condensed Chemical Dictionary, 10th Ed, Revised by Gessner G Hawley

Essential Science, Chemistry, M H Freemantle and J G Tidy

Handbook of Instrumental Techniques for Analytical Chemistry, Frank Settle

    Thank you,

    Rob Namestnik

    Hi Rob,

What a lovely way to pay it forward- if you're happy for me to, I'd love to share this with our student community. I'm sure there are students who'd really appreciate the chance to get their hands on some books, and it feels like a great way to pass on the value of these resources to the next generation of chemists. I also have connections with some of our members that have connections to universities in Africa who may be interested also.

Let me know if you're happy for me to go ahead and post it, or put you in touch with other members.

    Best wishes,
    Hannah

    Hi Hannah,

There are some very useful books in this lot. I may hold onto one or two titles but the rest will be on offer for the next generation of Chemists where ever they are in the world.

I used these to generate hands-on activities for chemical analysis/instrumentation, inorganic and organic chemistry at Fremantle and Murdoch TAFE (Applied Science) and the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi (Chemical Engineering).

Go ahead and post locally or offer to your African University contacts.

    Cheers,

    Rob
