The HS&E Group of the RACI Vic Branch in collaboration with the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) Australia International Group are indebted to A/Prof Robert Kerr, Research Director, and Dr Mojtaba Eftekharnia, Senior Battery Engineer, for inviting members and friends of the RACI and SCI to the Deakin University Battery Research and Innovation Hub on Tuesday August 11th, at 2-30 pm. The site visit is a follow-up to the visit of a few years ago which was universally acclaimed as most interesting and informative. Deakin University’s Battery Research and Innovation Hub ( https://batteryhub.deakin.edu.au/ ) is a world class facility for battery design, fabrication and testing. It is located in Highbury Road, Burwood, Vic 3125, where there is ample off-street parking, and is less than 500 metres from the main Deakin University Burwood campus.
The facility was developed with $10.9 million in co-funding from the Victorian Government and Deakin University, and has been able to extend the university’s battery research, design and testing capabilities, including the development and evaluation of novel prototype cell systems of various types, sizes and configurations.
The facility is inter alia able to help with the development of new Australian battery technology from proof-of-concept to production scale.
The SCI is providing sponsorship and support for the function enabling the visit to be free to RACI and SCI members and colleagues.
