Join the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Tasmanian University Chemistry Club (TUCC) for a site tour of the operations at Nyrstar Hobart's Zinc Works!
This walking tour will include looking at the leaching, electrolysis and casting stages of the zinc smelting process, as well as a visit to their labs to have a look at what analyses are being conducted.
Registrations to attend close on the 20th of September.
Nyrstar are kindly providing steel cap boots to everyone so shoe sizes are required. Since the Zinc Works is an industrial site, compliance with safety protocols and the directions of Nyrstar staff is necessary.
The Zinc Works has a clean shave policy, meaning that no facial hair (aside from a small moustache or goatee) will be permitted. Long pants, and long sleeves are also required.
