RACI Vic Branch Chemical Education Group welcomes secondary teachers of Chemistry to a Professional Development Day at RMIT.
With the current study design in full swing, RACI (Vic) Ed would like to provide an opportunity for VCE Chemistry teachers to gain experience in real classroom practicals that cover the various methodologies in the study design.
During the day, teachers will be presented with information on contemporary research using computer-aided simulations to explore the movement of molecules in biological applications - including protein structure and function.
Teachers will also have the opportunity to complete hands-on activities that they can take back to their classroom using computer simulations.
A number of workshops will also be offered for teachers to network with others to explore different methodologies (simulations, literature review and modelling) through a range of practicals and the use of secondary data that can be used to support content delivery in the VCE Chemistry course.
Digital and hardcopy resources of a wide range of practical activities will be made available to all participants.
A tour of the RMIT spectroscopy facilities will also be available.

Dr. Jessica Holien, Department of Biotechnology & Biological Sciences, RMIT
Maria James (Curriculum Manager, Science, VCAA) will also be presenting a workshop to assist teachers with the audit process and specific points from the study design will be explored.
Places are limited to ensure that the day offers greater networking and hands-on time.
