    Hi Everyone,

On behalf of the RACI Careers and Mentoring Program, I'm reaching out to all of our members - but particularly our Victorian members - with a call on your contacts and your networks.

For the last several months, I have been doing everything in my power to assist a member who is in crisis. RACI Member Nisha Mehta has recently come to Australia (as a permanent resident) after having to flee the conflict in Israel, with all the challenges of re-establishing her career here. She is a talented and multiple award-winning scientist who has overcome a lot of challenges to get where she is.

Nisha is particularly keen to move beyond academia to commercial and industrial roles, not just in direct science (computational chemistry, etc), but also a wider field of jobs where her scientific skills would be useful (IP law, finance, commodities analysis, etc). Here she is in her own words:

"Greetings! I'm Dr. Nisha Mehta. I want to share a bit about myself with you all. I was born with Albinism, which means I'm 'legally blind'. But please know, that's just a part of who I am, not the whole story. Professionally, I'm a research scientist with a stellar track record. Over the years, I've had the privilege of receiving more than 26 prestigious awards and honors for my work.

Recently, I've made Australia my home as a permanent resident. I've relocated from Israel due to the ongoing state of war there. Now, I'm eager to establish myself here. My expertise spans across various research institutions and industries. I'm particularly well-suited for roles involving coding, computational modeling, simulations, administration, patent attorney, teaching, software development, data analysis, and more.

Fun fact: I've successfully completed all lab courses as part of my Masters and Honors in Chemistry. Roles like lab technician or in research and development, where direct chemical exposure isn't required, also align well with my skills and expertise.

Oh, and here's the best part: I don't require any special accommodations. Just give me a dark corner and a Mac, and I'm all set to impress you with my skills.

Looking forward to contributing to our community"

Let's band together to give Nisha a leg up. Who in our networks might have opportunities suited to Nisha's skills? Who can we put her in contact with?

Let's find Nisha that career opportunity that will set her on the path to success as another great new Australian!

@Dave Sammut – Given I am a VIC Branch member, so can post in that state's community on MyRACI, I have shared a link to this discussion thread from there to here
