IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast- RACI ACT
Please note that the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast “Empowering Diversity in Science” will take place in a COVID safe environment on Tuesday 09 February 2021, 10:30 am, Ann Harding conference centre (building 24), University of Canberra. Map as below (please note the new venue). Morning tea will be provided.
This event is simply to celebrate Women’ achievement in Science by sharing inspiring stories reflecting journey through science.
We have previously organised the same event last year and was very successful with full media coverage.
I am inviting you to attend and witness the achievements of many prominent women in Science.
Please note that due to COVID-19 restriction, we have limited places. You MUST register to the event and follow the below:
- The RACI has invested time and effort into a QR logging system and all attendees must scan the code and follow the appropriate process. The QR code will be printed out and stuck to the registration desk so that attendees can scan the code without breaching social distancing rules.
- Reusable name tags should not be used for events to prevent the spread of germs. Instead sticky labels can be used. Keeping a record of those sticky labels that are not collected by attendees will help RACI to ascertain which registrants did not attend the event. The person who is giving out the name labels will be provided with hand sanitiser which will be used as appropriate. In this event, please bring your printed tag with you if you wish to have one.
- Catering will be COVID safe and provided by the conference centre at UC/UCevents. The use of shared platters or buffet style catering is discouraged, and may be in breach of the local state’s requirements. There should be no self-service of food including buffets and platters. We have made alternative catering arrangements in conjunction with the venue.
- Each state and territory have their own COVID regulations, pertaining to allowable numbers, space density, protective clothing etc. and these need to be followed. Information can be found at the following URLs: ACT https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/what-you-can-do

-Please help us stop the spread of COVID-19 by maintaining a physical distance of 1.5m where possible.
-Good hygiene is the best way to stop COVID-19 in it’s tracks, make sure you are washing your hands regularly or using hand sanitiser. You can find hand sanitiser at every event and hand washing facilities all over campus.
-Make sure you always follow the instructions of our COVID marshals, failure to follow their instructions could result in you being removed from the event.
-It is recommended to download the COVIDSafe and Check In CBR apps before attending any activities. The Check In CBR app will be required for some activities.
-If you feel unwell you should leave the event immediately and monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.
-You agree to the terms and conditions of this event, including:
-Tickets must not be transferred without the approval of the event organiser.
Ticket holders will not attend if they:
-Feel unwell
-Have been overseas or attended a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days
-Have been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case
-Have been tested and returned a positive result or are waiting for result
-Have been instructed by ACT Health to stay in isolation or quarantine.
-A full refund will be given if notified before the event (no evidence required) or after the event with relevant documentation.
-Attendees will maintain physical distancing where possible
-Attendees will practice good hygiene to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19
-Attendees agree to follow all instructions by staff and COVID marshals and understand that failure to do so might result in removal from the event
