Abstract
Mineralogy is the study of minerals leading to their identification by way of optical properties, structure, chemistry, occurrence, and origin. It is often that a multimodal approach that is required for absolute identification.
Mineralogy made Easy will outline some newer techniques that enable fast quantitative mineralogy on high number of samples. The combination of high-resolution SEM microanalysis and high-speed LIBS core analysis enable quantitative mineralogy on a large scale for comprehensive ore body knowledge for resource estimation, block modelling and processing.
Biography
Melissa Narbey, Manager Automated Mineralogy Incubator WA, will be presenting on “Mineralogy Made Easy”. Melissa has been in the mining industry for the last 34 years and has seen the evolution of instruments for single element analysis through to high speed core scanning for mineralogy. She started the Automated Mineralogy Incubator with AXT 6 years ago with modern high-speed techniques for automated mineralogy.
