R&D Laboratory Operator
· $32.25/hr + super

The Loop Hydrometallurgy group is conducting world-leading research in clean minerals processing technology. The Halion LoopTM can efficiently extract and recover critical metals – copper, nickel, cobalt, rare earths – and other metals such as gold, silver, platinum group metals, zinc and lead.
Based out of the Macquarie University DeepTech Incubator, Loop Hydrometallurgy is conducting a three year commercialisation program including laboratory, pilot plant and demonstration plant research. This is an exciting programme of cutting edge industrial R&D.
We are looking for an operator to join the laboratory team. The operator will participate in every aspect of the industrial research experimentation:
· preparation of job safety analyses,
· preparing equipment setup,
· conduct experiments,
· collection and preparation of samples for external analysis,
· cleaning and pack up after experiments,
· ordering of equipment and supply,
· all other general laboratory operations.
The position will initially be casual (24 hours per week), with the possibility of becoming full-time permanent by early 2025.
The ideal candidate MUST have:
· an interest in inorganic chemistry, particularly minerals chemistry,
· qualifications in lab chemistry: as a university or TAFE graduate,
· strong attention to detail,
· excellent attitude to safe work, for themselves and colleagues,
· clear and effective communications,
· effective record-keeping and documentation skills, and
· attention to laboratory cleanliness and hygiene.
· AAS experience preferred, but not essential.
