Dr Brad Walsh, GlyTherix
Brad is CEO of GlyTherix Ltd, a Sydney-based targeted radiotherapy company. GlyTherix is bringing to market an innovative antibody for treatment of solid tumours. He has led the company to successful completion of a First-in-Human safety study of Miltuximab®, its lead compound. The company is currently planning a Phase1b trial. Dr Walsh’s career in biotechnology began with a PhD in protein chemistry. Over the following years he led research groups in government agencies, universities and hospitals and was a key part of the establishment of a major national research facility, APAF. He has co-authored over 125 peer reviewed papers and nine patents. He has served as IMNIS mentor since 2011.
Dr Tristan Reekie, UNSW/Kinoxis
Tristan is an organic synthetic chemist who completed his PhD in 2013 at ANU and then a postdoctoral position at ETH Zurich before returning to Australia to work at the University of Sydney, followed by an independent career, first at ANU in 2019, and then at the University of New South Wales Canberra as a Senior Lecturer. Tristan also works concurrently as the Head of Chemistry for the spin-out company Kinoxis Therapeutics. Kinoxis Therapeutics recently landed a $273m deal to develop drugs for psychiatric disorders in collaboration with German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim and currently has a drug candidate in Phase 2 clinical trials.
